2019 - inner city street spot - oslo, norway
Grønland is one of Oslo’s most multi-cultural and vibrant areas – yet also one with its own set of social and economic challenges.
We were approached to help propose a series of temporary interventions to promote positive activity in a run-down and forgotten space, below a motorway bridge in the heart of Grønland.
Observing the sites current use as a mere thoroughfare between Metro, shops and bus station we created a concept of “a slower route” to encourage people to stop and pause for a moment. The concept is to create a wooden walkway with various interventions as you traverse the elevated structure. We included areas for seating and socialising, as well as an elevated dance stage and sculptural skateboarding mini-ramp. The concept includes a multi purpose mini sports pitch, as well as balance trails through the sites existing tree planting.
