Chase Lane is a major public park renovation project in Chingford, east London, delivered as part of The London Borough of Waltham Forest’s wider programme to enhance local green spaces. Betongpark was appointed to design and construct a new concrete bowl and skateable landscape that forms a key feature of the redesigned park.

Positioned centrally, the bowl is elevated above the surrounding ground and blends into the wider park through grass embankments, stepped edges and skateable banks. This creates a sculptural focal point that is both accessible and visually connected to neighbouring park zones.

The skate terrain incorporates distinctive red and sand-coloured concrete pigments, giving the facility a bold character. Additional design features—including CLINKER concrete pool coping blocks, hard-edge detailing and steel coping—add durability, functionality and a refined finish to the riding surface.

Betongpark collaborated closely with East architects to ensure the skateable elements were fully integrated into the overall masterplan. The completed landscape sits alongside a multi-use games area, a mix of new and retained play equipment, sustainable drainage features and enhanced circulation routes, creating a park that is cohesive and versatile.

Located next to Chase Lane Primary School, the park is regularly used by pupils. During early design stages, Betongpark worked with several local schools to consult, workshop ideas and co-design elements of the scheme. This engagement helped ensure the final facility reflects the needs and aspirations of the young people who use it most.
