CLEMENTS HALL

ESSEX

Clements Hall Skatepark is located behind the leisure centre in Hawkwell, Essex. Surrounded by open green space and mature trees, the site provides an ideal setting for the facility. The project represents the third and final skatepark designed and constructed by Betongpark as part of a series commissioned by Rochford District Council. This forward-thinking strategy has enabled the delivery of three complementary skateparks across the local area in Essex.

The design is set into the existing landscape, preserving clear sightlines across the wider site while integrating the skatepark seamlessly into its surroundings. Surface water is directed into a swale, supported by water-tolerant trees and shrub planting, providing a sustainable approach to drainage and water management.

The entrance leads into a linear, street-inspired zone featuring steel rails, ledges, and a brick-textured, stencilled quarter pipe. This area also incorporates a range of bespoke social spaces, including circular stepping stones of varying heights, contributing to a distinctive visual identity. Progressing through the skatepark, the layout transitions into a hybrid bowl-style area, combining blended banks, quarter pipes, extensions, and a feature steel wall ride.

Throughout Clements Hall Skatepark, a variety of carefully considered details enhance both the landscape and riding experience. These include rock coping, pool coping blocks, brick-stencilled concrete, a slappy kerb, and bespoke steel-fabricated elements, all contributing to a unique and characterful scheme.
