eastside, llanrumney

Eastside skatepark, located in Llanrumney, Cardiff, is a unique project for Betongpark in collaboration with esteemed Newline Skateparks, hailing from Canada. In addition to Newline, we also worked closely with VDZ landscape architects throughout the planning, design and construction phases of the project to deliver a scheme that truly integrates itself into the surrounding landscape. Sympathetic and economical earthworks design, coupled with a bio swale sustainable drainage solution and a variety of planting, create a facility for both wheeled sports users and the wider public alike.

The skatepark has been designed to include elements for all users, from a classic mini ramp, opening into the street plaza zone, bordered by a big stair set and handrail set up. Wide platforms allow users to circulate freely around the space, as they navigate between the zones. Complex steel work is present throughout the skatepark with a folded steel slappy kerb, ledges, rails and stair faces.

The result is a skatepark that is perfect for the community it sits within, and has been extremely well used from day one of it opening.
