Located within the historic Eaton Park, Norwich, this project replaced a tired prefabricated skatepark with a new concrete plaza-style extension, designed to sit seamlessly alongside the existing skatepark and revitalise one of the city's most popular wheeled sports destinations.

Developed through site analysis, rider consultation and careful consideration of the existing facility, the design introduces a range of street-inspired obstacles that encourage creativity, progression and flow for skateboarders, BMX riders, scooters and adaptive users alike. Rather than replicating existing features, the new extension expands the variety of riding opportunities while maintaining an open layout and clear sight lines throughout.

The new concrete extension was carefully integrated with the existing skatepark, allowing riders to move seamlessly between old and new areas. Consultation highlighted a desire for a street-focused facility with varied obstacle types, leading to a design that combines ledges, rails, banks and manual features within a simple, open layout that maintains and encourages creative line choices.

Alongside the new construction, refurbishment works to the original concrete park addressed worn surfaces and deteriorating details, ensuring the facility continues to serve Norwich's skate community for years to come. The result is a cohesive, modern skatepark that blends seamlessly into its surroundings while providing a fun, progressive and durable space for riders of all abilities.
