Livingston Skatepark is one of Scotland's most significant skateboarding facilities and forms part of West Lothian Council's wider programme of investment and improvement across skateparks throughout the region. Originally constructed during the early development of purpose-built concrete skateparks in the UK, the facility has played an important role in Scottish skateboarding culture for decades. As a Category B listed structure, Livingston represents an important piece of sporting and cultural heritage, requiring a careful and considered approach to its future maintenance and preservation.

Betongpark were appointed to undertake a sensitive refurbishment of the skatepark, making it one of the first listed skateparks of its kind to undergo a comprehensive restoration programme. Rather than replacing the existing facility, the project focused on preserving its distinctive character and riding experience whilst addressing wear, deterioration and long-term maintenance issues that had developed over years of intensive use.

The works included extensive grinding and polishing of existing concrete surfaces, repairs to damaged slabs and movement joints, replacement of worn pool coping, drainage improvements and a series of localised reconstruction works throughout the facility. Care was taken to retain the original geometry and established riding lines, ensuring that the unique qualities of the skatepark remained untouched while improving safety, ride quality and durability. The completed refurbishment has extended the operational life of this historic facility and ensures that Livingston Skatepark can continue to serve future generations of riders whilst preserving an important part of Scotland's skateboarding heritage.
