Completed in 2026, Sawston Skatepark sits within the heart of Lynton Way Recreation Ground, providing a welcoming and accessible facility for riders of all ages and abilities.
Developed through consultation with local riders and stakeholders, the project brief focused on creating a low-barrier-to-entry facility that would encourage progression, confidence and long-term community use. The resulting design combines flowing lines, subtle elevation changes and intuitive transitions to create a skatepark that feels approachable for beginners while remaining engaging for more experienced users.
At the centre of the park, a double pump bump merges with a blended mini jump ramp to form the facility's defining feature. This creates multiple linking routes and allows riders to maintain speed and flow without the need for extensive pushing. Traditional flat banks and quarter pipes frame each end of the park, providing familiar terrain for learning fundamental tricks and transitions, while a quarter pipe extension introduces additional height and challenge for more advanced users.
The looping layout encourages continuous movement and exploration, helping new users build confidence while offering experienced riders a surprising variety of lines within a compact footprint. By prioritising flow, progression and inclusivity, Sawston Skatepark delivers a versatile community asset that reflects the aspirations of the local skate scene and provides a welcoming destination for years to come.
